Writing, commies & centipedes: all my mother’s fault

I’ve been writing ever since I was second grader back at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Bay City, Michigan.

I had a wonderful nun, Sister Mary Earl, who encouraged me by reading everything I wrote — and remembering every word — then by tacking all my writing to the wall, along with my pictures.
